I’m a designer and maker at heart. With a background in industrial robotics I got sidetracked into the Digital Media field for a couple of decades, but my making core was never far away. I founded and help run Pangloss Labs, a collaborative open innovation centre in the Geneva area. It is aimed at creating new businesses around some of the ecologically sound making opportunities using open source software, hardware and business methodologies.
I also helped found the Post Tenebras Lab hackerspace here in Geneva, and have been involved in the open source hardware movement since 2010. I am a member of the Open Source Hardware Association, which is helping to move the community from projects to professional manufacturing. In 2015 I was one of the organisers for the first Making Festival for the Lake Geneva region, the Leman Make Festival, held in June 2015.
I’m in a rare position, being both a CxO and a member of the maker community, so I can translate and help you understand what you need to do in order to make the maker community feel excited about purchasing your product. If you get it right, the community itself will take your product and create a host of new applications for it. It’s the ultimate win-win.
